Avery - 9 months!

Stats:

Weight:  20.6 lbs. (49%)

Height:  27.5 inches  (26%)

HC:  18 inches (64%)

Basically, he's growing into his head.  I was a bit alarmed when the Dr. informed me of his percentiles since they seemed drastically lower than at six months.  She informed me that it's typical at this age to slow down a bit.  He certainly isn't malnourished.  That's for sure!

He has five teeth in now -- they have come in fast and furious which has left him more cranky and off-schedule than usual.  He has his two bottom ones, two top ones (one in more than the other), and one snaggletooth next to a top one.  More are starting to pop, so it will stay interesting!

We've got some new 'milestones' too -- we are starting to hear new sounds.  Less screeching and more delibrate consanants.  Also, he's starting to show his anger and frustration when we take something away or he can't get what he wants.  It was bound to show up at some time :)

Overall though, he's still quite a happy little guy.

A few of his favorite things:

1) Anyone wearing glasses

2)  Laughing at or with his sister

3)  His jumperoo

4)  Taking off his socks at the changing table and into his mouth

5)  Pooing in his diaper after we finally get ready and in the crib for a nap

6)  All food.  He prefers table food over baby food and still is the loudest hummer while eating I've ever seen!

7)  Loves, loves, loves water.   Bathtime is especially fun (and messy) as he's a splasher.  I cannot wait to take him in the pool and ocean this summer!

MY favorite things include:
seeing his little face light up with a smile when we see eachother or when he sees someone or something he likes and when he laughs.

sniffing his head and kissing it at will

gently squeezing his legs

nursing him to sleep and holding him while he's resting

It's exciting to see him grow but so very bittersweet.

I'm grateful to be home with him and Sophia despite the challenges it brings.  Right now I feel I'm in a really great place -- I have a nice balance between work and the kids.

Happy Weekend!
