Growing Pains & Playdates

The growing pains are for me.  The playdates are for Sophia.  While we aren't totally new to playdates I have taken it upon myself to make more of a concerted effort to host them.  This is definitely a growing pain for me -- those of you who know me are fully aware that I am type A and like to be in control.  Not to mention we have a relatively new house that I am leery of having lots of little dirty hands all over the walls.  Add this together and Chris gets a whole of anxiety about hosting playdates in our home.  I know it's pathetic but it's the truth.  The good news is I'm breaking out and on this particular playdate Sophia and her friend had a blast.  They played and then sat contently on the front porch with bowls of strawberries and popcorn.  It was so much fun to watch them interact with each other.  What struck me as interesting was how hard I found it to let go -- I let them play upstairs and only went to check on them occasionally.  This in and of itself was new for me.  I did it!  I survived 'the playdate' and Sophia could not have been happier.
