"Baby School"
This weekend we took Sophia to a class at the hospital called "Sibling Preparation." Sophia aptly named it "baby school." I was hoping to do it closer to the due date, but luckily when I called to find out what dates where available it was this weekend or June!! I thought I'd take the safe route and go now. Anyways, it was informative for Sophia and super cute. Sean and I were practically in tears at some of the answers the kids gave to some questions. Here are some of our favorite answers from Miss S:
Teacher: "Tell me something you know about babies." (Many hands go up)
Sophia: "Girls can have them. Boys can't."
Teacher: "How do you feed the baby?" (Many eager hands go up again)
Sophia: "The baby drinks milk from Mommy's tummy." (Hmm. She sees lots of animals do it that way but we will be explaining breastfeeding at a later date.)
And then you hear a shout out from another little girl in the class: "...and Mommy's boobies!"
Teacher: "How do we keep the baby safe?"
Sophia: "Like a kangaroo...keep it in a pouch like a marsupial."
We all crack up at how hilarious and interesting it is to see how these little kids construct their worlds. The marsupial idea seemed to be one the instructor hadn't quite heard yet. :)
The kids also got to make their own "ID" bracelets to wear to the hospital on baby day.
Just having a little huggable fun.
