besides sleep and Starbuck's, of course.
I have a serious obsession with sour cherry pie ever since Avery was born. A homemade pie would be best, but I am settling for store bought, which seems to quell my cravings for now. When I have more energy, maybe I will just make that homemade sour cherry pie.
I took this picture because I thought it captures another one of my loves besides eating, and that is reading. While I don't do a lot of it these days, I do still make time for it, even if it is in small bites. After my babies were born this is what I pick up: What to Expect During the First Year (because you kinda forget), Healthy Sleep Habits (god knows we need them), and Jacquelyn Mitchard's 'The Rest of Us' (brilliant passages about family/life/motherhood). I found Mitchard's book randomly after Sophia was born. It was given to us as a wedding favor from a literary couple when we didn't have kids. I thought the idea of giving books was very original yet never picked it up to read. So, it was timely when the book turned up at the right time in my life; and now what a treasure time and again I find it to be. It has been a constant companion throughout motherhood, and I am particularly drawn to it in my early days and hours with a new baby. I never fail to be moved by her clear and poignant prose which resonate with many of my own experiences of motherhood.
I have added to my heap, Tina Fey's 'Bossypants' and Kristin van Ogtrop's (editor of Real Simple) 'Just Let Me Lie Down' for some out loud belly laughs. An US magazine and/or a People is also on my bedside table. Another necessity. :)
