Well, it looks like Baby Szabo-Ramsey will be born on June 16th! My surgery is scheduled for 7:30 am. that day and should only take about an hour. While a c-section is the best route to go this time around, I must admit it feels really strange and not as fun to 'know' when the baby is coming. I am constantly reminded that I will be way less tired this time around since I won't have the labor and pushing I had with Sophia. So, in that aspect, it's a good thing. :) I had my check-up today and things are looking good. Sophia went with me this time and she had a few questions for our Dr.:
1) Why does the baby grow in a tummy and not an egg?
2) How does the baby grow?
I thought these were such great questions and gave her my own answers and then the Dr. followed up with hers. We didn't dumb it down for her and used words like 'uterus' and 'umbilical cord' and how we are mammals and not reptiles. Since she's such an animal lover I think that helped her understand. I am a big believer that kids need to learn the proper names of things, not little cutesy nicknames. Give them the benefit of the doubt and then explain.
I had a rough last week of feeling pretty nauseous but I'm hoping it's due to a grow spurt (for both of us!). Everything seems on track and baby's heart rate is around 135. It's getting lower and lower which is intersesting...I think the wives tale is the lower the heartbeat, the more likely a boy. I'm not sure what it is, but I'm placing bets on a boy. Not because of that, but this pregnancy has felt pretty different so I would be very surprised if it's a girl. I'm also pretty confident that this little person will be more physical than Sophia, due to it's constant moving in utero. I sort of think they come out into the world with the same 'disposition.' We are trying to kick it into high gear and get some things ready like taking stuff out of storage and cleaning it up. Sean is going to try and get the crib up this weekend, even though the baby won't be in it for a few months. I will be courageous and post a picture soon even though I am feeling like a very large whale these days. All things are large, including my NECK!!
Sounds great. Love Sophia's questions. Hilarious.
