From the Almost 6 Year Old

Sophia has been into running lately and believe it or not, I am not pushing her this direction.  If anything, I steer very clear of it and want her to gravitate to whatever makes her happy.  So, right now, running, it seems, is making her happy.  Tonight she wanted to go running so off we went and for 17 minutes straight!  She wanted to just stop, go potty, get a drink and go back out again.  I figured why not as it was her idea, she wasn't panting, and we were having fun.

Some of my favorite moments have come from when we run together.  We have conversations and she will ask me what my favorite part of my day was, and least favorite too - it's something we do at the dinner table every night and it warms my heart to hear her echo this and interject it at a time that seems right to her.  She wanted to take music on our 'second round' so I just had my iphone on speaker and we sang along together, under the moon and beautiful sounds of the summer night.

And back to the funniest quip of the night - as we are running she says "You know, Dad is really a lounge bag- he doesn't run like we do"  and I just had to crack up.  Those little almost six year olds say the darnest things.  :)
