Capturing Fall

I wish I could bottle up all the brilliance of fall -- complete in all of its colors and crispness.  I know, come January, I sure could use a refresher as to why exactly we live here.  I just need to take out these pictures to remind myself:  I am really a midwesterner, through and through.

We have this beautiful Gingko tree in our front yard.  It has these amazing leaves and last year they all came down in one fail swoop, within an hour.  We were lucky enough to see the show.  So, I was waiting for the same thing to happen this year.  It didn't happen as quickly, however, all the leaves came down in a little less than a week.

Why exactly do kids like to put leaves over their eyes?  It seems like it's a universal thing and I'm just at a loss.
