Sean travels frequently and had a trip out to Phoenix so we thought we'd make it a family affair. Our first family trip of four! We'd be staying at a resort, so I figured, even though I'd be in charge of the kids by myself most of the time I was ready to give it a try. Well, we did it! I am very proud of the fact that both kids were well behaved on airplane rides and did great throughout the week. A particularly nice moment was on Saturday night when we were out to dinner at a very nice restaurant called 'The Mission.' No one else had children there and I even asked if there was a no children policy, but they said it was fine. On the way out of the restaurant I got stopped by a woman and she said that I had the most well-behaved children she has ever seen. Wow, was that nice to hear! We were able to enjoy the ambiance, delicious southwest cuisine and the weather. :)
Some of our highlights, besides the wonderful weather and food (here comes the onslaught of photos):
Seeing Sophia fall asleep after a long day of travel
The sun was so bright, you gotta wear shades
Can't forget the goggles!
Afternoon siesta, poolside
Lovely weather!
Sophia loved the lazy river - such a big girl!
During some down time, reading to Avery -
Pool time with Dad
One of Sophia's favorites, the trolley ride around the city:
Hiking in Papago Park
Checking out the succulents!
Learning all about the Saguaro
...and the Yellow Barrel Cactus
A treat break in Old Town Scottsdale
The Desert Botanical Garden (the pictures do NOT do this beautiful place justice!)
I'm in love with the desert; while I've been here before it seemed extra special this time. I'm sure we will be back!
